Most tech businesses invest in their product. Few invest in their people managers. The gap shows up fast.

New North Leadership Solutions exists to close that gap. We work with technical businesses across Sub-Saharan Africa to develop the leaders and teams their growth depends on.

About Graham Paterson

I spent 30 years in businesses before I became a leadership coach.

I started on the Front-Line. I became a CEO. I scaled businesses, turned around underperformers, exited a start-up through acquisition, and made some expensive mistakes along the way. I know what it looks like when a leadership team functions well — and when it does not.

That background matters. When I work with a leader or a business, I understand the environment. I am not learning your world while I coach you.

What I believe

You cannot develop leaders in isolation.

A leader who grows while their team stays stuck will hit a ceiling. And a team that grows without leadership support will lose faith and motivation.

That is why I always work on both sides of the equation. Leadership development and team development go together. One reinforces the other.

How I work

Every engagement starts with understanding your context. The sector you operate in, the stage your business is at, the specific challenges your leaders are facing.

From there, I design a programme that fits your business — not an off-the-shelf model dressed up as bespoke.

I then follow through. Coaching support continues after the formal programme ends, so that new skills become embedded habits rather than good intentions that fade.

Who I work with

I work primarily with technical businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. My clients are typically mid-to-large businesses in the tech sector — 40 or more people — where senior technical specialists have moved into people management roles without adequate development support.

My buyers are usually HR Managers, People and Culture leads, or CEOs who have recognised that the leadership layer is a constraint on their business.

Let's talk about your business.

A free consultation takes 30 minutes. There is no pitch and no pressure. We talk about where your business is, where you want it to go, and whether I can help.
